Basic Marketing: An “Insider’s Guide”

Need help with the fundamentals? Arrive early to attend this special session! In this UCEA Professional Development module, you’ll learn continuing education marketing basics and get an overview of effective strategies for marketing university programs. Learn how to:

  • Create a marketing plan
  • Conduct marketing research
  • Develop marketing systems to target, track, and retain students
  • Introduce some trendy marketing initiatives

Hear case studies illustrating direct-mail techniques and how to reach new markets. Topics include basics of Web marketing and use of electronic media. This module is targeted to CE professionals who are either new to the CE field or have new responsibilities in marketing. Successful completion of an optional assignment leads to a UCEA certificate of accomplishment. Note: Separate registration and fee required. Not Another Boring Web Design Workshop:
An Agency’s Perspective


Overview

Story+Structure is a Boston-based Web design agency that specializes in bridging the gap between the design of compelling interfaces and the creation of usable Web sites. In this session, agency partners Chokdee “Choke” Rutirasiri and Shaun Gummere will present a three-part discussion covering the following topics:

Part 1: DIY Takeaways

Choke will provide a run-down of some insider’s tips and tricks, covering everything from online project management tools, to Google AdWords and usability testing. Discover all the things you thought you didn’t know how to do yourself.

Part 2: Best Practices + Emerging Trends

Shaun will discuss best practices and emerging trends that affect online communication for higher education, and will note some ways you can use them to increase the reach and relevancy of your programs.

Part 3: Town Hall Meeting

Bring all your nagging questions to this “free for all” discussion. Together, Shaun and Choke will address your questions on the fly. In the past, this segment has been a big hit.

Choke and Shaun have both worked in the Web design field for over 12 years. Choke presented at the UCEA marketing seminar in San Diego in 2008 and San Francisco in 2007. Shaun and Choke were featured speakers at UCEA New England in October 2007. For more information, visit our Web site at:
